Did Sturridge work with Hughes at Man City?

Made me think reading this story...do we have it in us to make him a marqee signing if he is frozen at Chelsea?

Me too, I just can't see it though.

Sturridge would probably command a transfer fee in excess of 10m and a salary of 60k per week plus. I know this is within the realms of possibility with Fernandes in charges but it is a hell of a lot of money on 1 player for a club like us. Also one of his gripes at Chelsea is the fact that he is not playing enough and when selected often used as a winger or support striker and not an out and out front man. Have a look at our squad, we have Cisse, Zamora and now Andy Johnson who all expect to play and all like to play as an out and out striker. No doubt Sturridge is a better player then AJ and Zamora and arguably a better prospect than all of our strikers but we would still be giving ourselves a potential selection headache by signing him.

I think he'll get more game time with Chelsea next year, Drogba, Kaluo , Malouda, all being moved on...

Good point, I actually can't believe Chelsea have managed to let Drogba slip through their fingers. He will be a great signing for someone for a couple of seasons on a free transfer.

Yes and has just signed a 2 yr contract worth just under £21m at £200k / week.... not that free is he really.
