It's a perverse decision. I'm 100% in favour of bringing in new blood but it has to be done sensibly.

Clearly Rio isn't getting a look in, and we all know why that is. It's outrageous that the court case was put back for such a long time solely to accomodate the requirements of the defence ( = the FA).

As if it wasn't bad enough that Anton was subjected to racial abuse, the way Rio has been treated by the FA is a complete disgrace. This is a player who's represented his country with distinction, is a top pro, good role model, respectable character and does loads o good work with kids and charities.

Our FA instead side with a brainless ar5e thug, who's bang to rights guilty of racism for all to see, recently disgraced himself in the champions league semi final by doing what they ultimately threw the book at joey for, and has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons dating back to 9/11 when he and some tw@t chelsea teammates were goading americans the day after the tragedy, and let's not forget disrupted another recent tournament squad by shagging around.

Yeah well done FA. What makes it even more laughable is the fact he's been poor this season and Rio is a far better player.....

I think this has something to do with Sir Alex - as has the Carrick decision. SA has made it clear he doesn't want Rio going due to the risks of playing multiple games in short time due to his back. He also said he deoesn't want Carrick in the squad if he isn't going to play. I think Roy made a behind the scenes agreement and it's too late to change now without losing face.

SAF had nothing to do with Carrick. It was Carrick who said he didn't want to go as a bit part squad player.

SAF had suggested Rio may struggle with 3 games in 8 days. Let's all be clear though, that's not the reason he's not in the squad, but that's given Roy the excuse not to pick him. Everyone knows Rio's out due to Terry abusing his brother. Most squad players don't play in tournaments at all, let alone need to worry about 3 games in 8 days.
