QPR ‘to rival Liverpool for Tottenham striker Defoe’

QPR are ready to rival Liverpool for the signing of Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, according to The People.

Defoe is tipped to leave White Hart Lane this summer and Liverpool were believed to be interested before the Anfield club’s recent sacking of Kenny Dalglish.

Hughes apparently wants a new-look forward line.

It is claimed Rangers boss Mark Hughes wants to form a new-look attack by capturing Defoe and Andy Johnson.

Out-of-contract Fulham forward Johnson is said to be close to moving to Loftus Road, with Hughes keen to offload Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell.

      Really?

Liverpool are on a massive decline which will continue for the next few years, they have average players on massive wages and have spent fortunes, the owners aren't willing to spend money any more after Kenny pissed it up the wall.

We're a club on the up, with a new training ground and stadium on the way, a club with stability.

Defoe could remain in London and i guess get as much money here as he would at Liverpool. Liverpool of course are a much bigger club but as i said, they're on a massive decline and unlikely to be qualifying for Europe in the next few seasons so why would Defoe be interested in a move to a club up North and going nowhere at this time in his career?

Defoe would rather join QPR simply becuase he is a Londoner, he hasn't got to move house or move school for his kids, plus the biggest bonus is he's guarenteed 1st team football, where as at Liverpool he'll be on the bench again.

If true, time for Hughes and board to sell the vision to him....

                  Be a hero etc.

My Dad gave me that talk just before the 100 metres on my first sports day.

                  I came joint 8th.
