Exactly. Mackie has had loads of chances this season, and unfortunately proved he simply isn't a good wide player. If he got his head up and passed more often, rather than aimlessly trying to beat 3 players everytime he got the ball and ultimately running into them and losing the ball, then maybe.
I have always said his pace, power, energy, intensity etc will always be better suited as an iumpact sub against tiring defenders and this has proved to be the case against Blackburn and Liverpool. That is the formula that has proved to work, and where Mackie becomes a useful asset for us. When he starts he's been very ineffectual and more of a hindrence if you ask me.
He's never going to start up front instead of Cisse and Zamora so needs to be sub.
