Exactly. Mackie has had loads of chances this season, and unfortunately proved he simply isn't a good wide player. If he got his head up and passed more often, rather than aimlessly trying to beat 3 players everytime he got the ball and ultimately running into them and losing the ball, then maybe.

I have always said his pace, power, energy, intensity etc will always be better suited as an iumpact sub against tiring defenders and this has proved to be the case against Blackburn and Liverpool. That is the formula that has proved to work, and where Mackie becomes a useful asset for us. When he starts he's been very ineffectual and more of a hindrence if you ask me.

He's never going to start up front instead of Cisse and Zamora so needs to be sub.

Would worry about Barton playing tomorrow if cattemole is playing.

Aren't Cattemole and Sessignon both still suspended for their straight reds against the Toon?

Wasn't Barton's last game for Newcastle Sunderland away?

You're right, just Cattermole. Richardson looks set to be out injured for them also.

Would not start Mackie. Very good impact sub but is not effective when he starts games. His frsh legs, effort and desire are a real bonus after 60 or so minutes.

                  Kenny

                  Young Onuha Ferdinand Traore

                  SWP Barton Diakite Taarabt

                  Cisse Zamora

Dropped Derry cause everytime he has a great game he is bad the next! Barton basically still thinks he plays for Newcastle so he will probably bust a gut in this one. Plus i think we need to go at Sunderland and attack from the off so brought SWP in.
