Surely he is only expressing an opinion. One that millions of people all over the world possibly share. The Americans are not universally popular believe it or not.

Having said that, I'd rather he didn't tweet so much and court controversy, but having a pop at the bloke for what he does away from football seems to be a bit harsh. Maybe he shouldn't be allowed sex or to sleep at night until we start to win games as it's clearly his fault entirely and nothing to do with any of the others who perform far worse than him on a weekly basis.

Not very long at all actually.Unlike Barton,I'm retired and not a full time professional footballer who,as captain of a struggling team,should devote all his time to the club he plays for and to lead by example.
