It's quite plausible.... A lot of signings would have come a side expected to finish at above 17th and i doubt the ambitions laid out to them would have included relegation.....

Back of the Sun today - QPR apocalypse!

Now I don't read that rubbish! But I saw on the back of the paper today from someone sitting on the tube, that Rangers will continue to pay the mega contracts that many of our players are on in the Championship.

I dread to think what our wage bill would be in the Championship, but if the Mittals and Fernandes were to leave we would be facing a Pompey type situation of epic proportions. We have been in admin twice before because we had players on contracts we could not afford. Many Rangers fans know that if this were to happen again, then we could be in massive trouble. That's certainly another reason why some Rangers fans are not happy with the performances of certain players. They know what this could mean for the club.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

QPR owner Tony Fernandes faces financial nightmare if they go down

Struggling QPR face a financial meltdown if they are relegated from the Barclays Premier League — because none of their stars will be forced to take a pay cut.

Oh yeah and this journo has seen all the contracts hasn't he?

Somehow I don't see how we got the likes of Barton, SWP, Cisse & Zamora etc without there being some sort of clause in there contract.

If we go down with TF and AB still in charge, we will probably be ok. My concern is if we go down with the huge debt and high wages and they then sell to some dubious overseas business man ( who clearly knowing our luck will completely fail any fit and proper test but somehow will still manage buy us) or such like and it's purely a leveraged buyout then I can definitely see us going the way of Pompey or our smaller scottish namesake.

The question also is whether TF took a punt on us by thinking we would defo stay up and him and his partners haven't got the deep pockets for a sustained period in the championship.

Our destiny imho lies with the Mittals, the documentary may just push them to believe the club and them fit perfectly together and a majority share holding is

Anyone else pleased we didn't start building a 40k stadium with state of the
art facilities. Old Loftus Road isn't that bad a place after all

Sounds like one of those 'my friend' or 'I know someone' excuses you normally hear when someone is too embarrassed to say it was actually them, but fair do's that's a new one on me.

I think we still get the parachute payments to help ease the burden of the wages.

The problem with it is I don't think the mega stars on mega money would even be good enough to get us straight back up.

Once again, and I know you'll hate me for bringing this up, but look at Swansea and Norwich, all the players they signed are on sensible wage structures. The problem with QPR fans is we craved for big name signings and now could be facing the ultimate price...

Once again this just shows how low the club is sadly.

that is a classic spot and has made me laugh

It's also a kind of line I hear my missus gassing to her mate on the phone about "I don't read that type of rubbish but Sarah from number 73 told me that Hello magazine had an exclusive that David Beckham is really Sport Spice.."

With the parachute payment the wages would be covered but the kiss of death would be not getting promoted at 1st attempt wich wont be as easy as some think it might be when you look at the strength of the Championship this season

There's 19 players on a average of 10k a week out of contract
