    Relegation play-off?

Difficult thing to definitively establish but, as far as I can tell, if two teams finish "joint 17th" on points you then go to goal difference to separate them. If they're still level then it comes down to goals scored. If they're then still level then a one-off play-off at a neutral ground will take place to see who stays up and who goes down.
Before anyone starts .... I'm not being negative; I'm purely establishing what the rules are if a particular scenario unfolds. Given our current position I'd say it's entirely sensible to have a total understanding of what we need to do to stay up. I actually checked it out cos I had a nagging feeling it would be decided alphabetically and Bolton and Blackburn would steal a march.... quite relived it don't work that way.

I always thought it comes down to head to head too.

As I say, can't find anything definitive about head-to-head BUT.... can find bits saying that League winners and , euro places decided by a play-off so I assume relegation would be treated simuilarly.

Think next week at Reebok is gonna be a bit tense to say the least! Lord knows what a full-blown polay-off would be like????

OK you'll probably think i'm mad now, bearing in mind we've just drawn 1-1 at home,
but i've got feeling we could do better away next week at Bolton.

could do it like the krauts

bottom 2 are relegated, top 2 of championship promoted

third bottom and third top of championship have a playoff to see if you stay up or go up.

Next week will be flipping nervy but I do think it's a case of the "moveable object meeting the resistable force" so we could well get something. Be immense to go 5 pts clear of them!
