    History repeating?

Just realised some things we have in common with our relegation in 1996.
Please add anymore you can think of.
Man Utd were fighting near the top of the league, for the title.
Arsenal finished 5th that year and are very likely to do so again.(ok i'm guessing)
We had a manager who played for both Man U & Chelsea
We changed managers part way through the season.
We brought in a big name striker Mark Hately
Chelsea knocked us out of the FA cup at Loftus Road
We played in blue & white hoops ( ok cheap one)
Bolton were down with us all season and were relegated with us.

Thankfully, no we didn't change the Manager half way through the season, Wilkins took over the previous season from Francis............so fingers crossed that is the catalyst that says we WILL survive......just !!!!

Aren't Man U always fighting near the top for the title?

Kit i beg your pardon you are correct too,.... yes of course the first season Wilkins took over we were on for europe at one point.
I very nearly put we had someone named Ferdinand in the squad then and now, but
that was probably why we went down then wasn't it,... cause we didn't have Ferdinand.
Well done Kit, nice one the Rs are staying up...

                Not in 1974 no!

Must admit to a bit of the above trying to get 2 maybe 3 similarities in both seasons into the thread, as was the blue & white hoops, and Mark Hately big name stiker

It has always been possible since the season started that we could be relegated, but not many of us believed it would.
What has changed is the closer we get to season's end, the less games we have to make a break away, and we're all in s**t street because of it.
But there are still 12 games to go, and I have decided to look forward to the prospect of winning each game, and saving the gloom for the day we mathematically can't survive, and not until then.
The bookies say we'll survive, who are we to argue with that?
Life is too short to spend a whole season under a cloud when we will survive(IMO!)
