And as I've said before, we risk losing Connolly in the future if he is played out of position. Why didn't Gunter want to sign for us? Because we didn't want to play him in his natural position. A lot of players are greedy so and so's but some just want to develop and become better players. Connolly is one of them. He sees himself as a centre back (Wenger saw him as one too) and he won't want to play left back over a period of time.

If we do sell Hogan ( and most of my mates back home seem to have mixed views about his potential ) then that money needs to go toward a genuine decent left back. I think we can challenge with the squad we've got if the only other player we lose is Hogan, even without buying another striker (though I wish we would) but playing Connolly or someone else at lb isn't the answer.

Most teams play 2 different sides in friendlies.

When the season starts, players find thereselves not even on the bench.

id say left back is easily the priority, but a big striker up front to hold the ball up and bang the goals away would be a bonus too
