Not a fan of Collins would much prefer Samba and Alex, possibly Bassong hard to say with him having played so little recently!

Other posters seem keener on him than me, so fair enough. Compared to Alex and Samba or even Bassong he hasn't ever looked that amazing to me but I take all your points - a solid Prem class centre half and certainly a step up on Gabbidon, Hall etc.

Collins is really good. Was in my dream team last season as he was that good imo.

I'm glad it's looking like we're getting 2 defenders, and I haven't thought no thanks to any of the centre backs linked to us so far!

Has he? Just goes to show what being a Prem footballer does for your sex life. One of the positives I had about him was that he looks dead ugly. I like ugly defenders. Prepared to put their face in the way of a boot - and we'll need that.

In a squad of 25, we need three keepers, and two of every position, so that means four centre backs. So it's probably Ferdinand, Alex, Collins and perhaps Gabbidon?
