Why? Smith is a great crosser and a player with a very good brain who'll keep defenders thinking. He may not have bags of pace but a player, who given a chance, will torment a full back. He plays well with HH up front, as shown with the Palace goal. With Campbell making runs off the last man & Heidar bullying in the air, these 3 could link up brilliantly.
