I have been told that him being captain was one of the reasons for him coming here - ergo it's in his contract.

That does not mean it is not a mistake. I think any such clause is a mistake and an act of a desperate club. It is like saying you can take all the penalties, free kicks etc.

It basically makes a statement that the player calls the shots before a ball is even kicked.

Form should always dictate - not some stupid clause in a contract, made up by a legal bod.

I think that if you give (almost) anybody cast iron status in a competitive environment then it can become detrimental to their performance(s).

I also think that the defense is by far our biggest problem this year.
