I think this is a key point - we have a pretty tidy poacher in DJ. Just need someone up alongside up to give him some chances
A blog of my first season ticket, and QPR's return to the Premiership after 15 years

Where Were You When We Were S4!T?

Thanks for that Matty, proves my point, he's never been prolific.

I don't focus entirely on goals for strikers anyway, as a good striker can offer so much more in the way a team plays, but it bugs me when people suggest that certian people guarantee goals when they don't. It's just like those who said Crouch would "guarantee 15 goals a season"....

We'll just ignore the 1 yard miss the other day....

Get him in January and we will still be looking for a decent striker again before the next season...thought the "stopgap" signings would end with TF coming in. He's a bit better than Bothroyd i agree but is he really the leap in quality we need to survive as a premiership club? Maybe with the right players incoming to play alongside him and some serious investment from the board so i guess time will tell

Same type of player as Bothroyd but older, decent but not as good as some are making out.

A striker is only good if he has decent players around him to plant the ball at his foot or head. We have 2 players who can do it in Adel and Traore. Even the best CF would not score if he don't have the service. We need players who can do killing passes to the strikers for them to score. HH and ..well to an extent, Bothy can score with them killer passes. A good CF needs to have the confidence to run thro the defence knowing that the ball will be coming into that space. At the moment only Adel can do that. More Adels please !!

Know what you are saying but every team looks to improve gradually - even man city couldn't go out and buy a team of world class players straight off, they had to improve little by little. Even if the board were prepared to splash out on a Defoe or a Bent - v unlikely imo - there is no guarantee we cd get them.

I remember watching Zamora for Brighton against us when Thommo was joint top scorer with him. (new years day match I think, 3rd division anyway)

Predictably a 0-0 and I remember saying that Zamora would never be a top striker. I stand by that judgement.

the problem of goal scoring is not going to go away if our best winger plays on the wrong side and our most creative player is on the bench - no matter who signs imo

same here, and imo SWP is our best player. People are judging his performances unfairly, as hes out of position. Id like to see how Faurlin plays on the wing - not half as good i bet. get SWP on the wing, and more goals will be created and scored.

You watch him on MOTD. He gets the ball down, gives it, and moves. His movement is topnotch, and that's what we need up front, personally i think our strikers are to static.

Andy Thomson must be the last striker we had to get 20 goals in a season?
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
