Its hard to know whether we didn't perform or didnt turn up. Barton, Mackie and Smith were all v quiet. 1-0 is no disgrace but it does put into sharp focus all those fans who were laughing saying we cdnt possibly have less than 20 points at Christmas after the Stoke result. We will strengthen in Jan and I'm not too downhearted but lots of improvement needed.

A performance today like Chelsea/man city and a point was there for the taking. We seem to pick and choose when we really go for it and when we coast along trying to avoid a hammering.

Exactly... 1-0 not bad under the circumstances.

Would have a taken a stuffing having really given it a go rather than "settle" for a 1-0 offering nothing up front at all

Goal difference? Would rather 1-0 and offer nothing than say 6-0 and giving it a go.
Our gd is already -11 and could make a difference come end of season!!

Not entirely sure what bearing the last two games have on whether or not we beat Liverpool today. If you want to moan about not beating WB at home when we were the better team that's fair enough! But I don't think you can criticise us for losing to Liverpool at Anfield!
As for a lack of ambition, I don't believe that. Did Man Utd have a lack of ambition in last seasons Champions League final? No, they just got outclassed by a better team as we did today! Will team's of our standard or worse go to Anfield and get a point or three this season? Yes, but that doesn't mean that we should of. It's not to be expected.
