Regardless of whatever Defoe might want to do Spurs simply will not sell him mid-season without getting a quality replacement in. And why would they bother right now? Unless he really spits his dummy big time I just can't see this happening before summer - much as I'd like to.

Probably not us he's reaching out to though is it.Originally posted by stainrodisalegend View PostHe may as well have read out his telephone number and asked Warno to call him. Potentially v exciting news for us.

Probably not, any more than Barton or SWP were. But the top clubs will say "if he isn't good enough for Spurs, he isn't good enough for us." A lot of the likely clubs such as Villa and Everton are busted flushes financially and Newcastle don't seem to want to spend. We are never going to be first choice for a player of that class but if we are still sitting reasonably comfortably by Jan we seem happy to pay big wages and it wd mean staying in London. Agree its a long shot but you cd see him reluctantly coming round to us. He went to Portsmouth for first team football when they were about in the same sort of position as us.Originally posted by Ellerslie View PostProbably not us he's reaching out to though is it.

Probably right, and perhaps helped by one of 'arry's brown envelopes.Originally posted by Ric-Roc View PostGood point. Would probably put that more down to the Harry effect than the Pompey though effect if I was honest.
Still, Warno is (and no offence intended) a kind of poor man's Harry so if he likes playing for him am sure he'd work well with Warno.
