I agree he is a great player and would be a top, top addition, but would you play him left midfield because that is his best position, or would you play him on the left because that is the only slot available ?

I only ask because Joey Barton is OK on the right, but better in the middle.

I would play him there because I think he's better on the left then Joey is on the right...If you get what I mean?

As said before, he's versatile and can fill in anywhere when called upon.

No chance of Anelka or Defoe IMO. I think we need a center back, left winger and a striker. If Spurs go back in for Cahill in January then we could get Bassong, if Wigan are in the bottom 3 in january then possibly a move for Victor Moses? Kranjcar is a good shout but he's probably too good for us. Pavlyunchenko would be a top signing but he'll probably cost a lot of money, I think they bought him for £14 million so they'll want at least £10 million of that back, great player but I can't see us paying £10 million for anyone.

we need backup defenders, we didnt even have 1 on the bench (again) on saturday (orr can't defend in the premiership).

so I'd go 1 CB, 1 LB or RB, 1 striker and a creative midfielder to replace Adel (who it seems can't cut it in the premiership

Although that's a good line up on paper, IMO, this would be more effective.

                ----- Barton --- Faurlin -----
                - SWP - Kranjcar - ?????? -
                ----------- Defoe -----------

Then you would be going 4-2-3-1.

The way i see it if any one midfield comes forward there is still 2 covering no matter which side of the pitch. 4-3-3 gives a lot of options imo.

Agree that's if Kranjcar signs and Faurlin and Barton are fit. Defoe is a striker, not a winger and Kranjcar plays best in the middle, not on the right or left. Yes they could play different positions, but would they be as effective, i think not.
