    Barton's performance

Well, after my initial concern regarding Joey's performance, the last 3 games of which i have seen all; he has been magnificent.

I thought his hunger really showed through and he gave a captains performance in all 3, which is all I was ever asking him to do.
We know he is a top player , but no one can deny his last 3 games have been far superior to his previous 3 before that.

I really hope he continues this form against the smaller sides, as he has matched the bigger sides midfields, and then some.

Happy that he has turned things around, and become what seems a great captain.

Agreed. Also with Derry on the bench for the last game and a half, he has been able to play in his better position. The 4-4-2 formation we are now playing suits the whole team. We can't build the team round on person in this league, as it compromises everyone else. Barton and Faurlin have both benefited from this change.

Joey and Ali are the ideal Central midfielders IMO. Any of them would do decent next to Anderson or Fletcher in Uniteds team - thats why they will get better the better squad we get. I'd love to see them with for instance Anelka as striker, exciting times ahead as I've said so many times now.

Good point Jeffro hadn't thought about the fact we were playing the big boys,
hope it's not a motivation thing.I think we needed to sort out the 3 into 2 centre mid thing and drop one out.

My concern with Joey is that he's already picked up 4 yellow cards. One more and he's out for how many games? I know its his style to play in a way that can leave him open to picking up yellow cards and I think it actually helps to motivate the players around him but I hope we dont suffer due to his almost certain suspensions.
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

          2015/2016, average at best.....

          2016/2017, same old, same old....

          2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

Nail on the head. I know everyone focusses on Adel being out, but this is the reason that JB and QPR were so much better against city.

Think there is some truth in that. Adel was replaced by Mackie and whilst he was very solid his wasn't a game changing performance.

I would stick with the Barton/Faurlin central midfield pairing.
                  Together, they look magnificent.

I'm a big fan of Joey's, and I've backed him more than many. Being over-critical, though...The majority of his long balls and set pieces have been poor. Massively over hit.

Either way, he's been class of late, just as he was for the first two games.

Joey played very well V city in a more suited position through the middle with Ali Faurlin who looked world class (but lets keep that quiet before other clubs come calling.) Joey on QPR player today praising crowd at Loftus Rd. says there's not 40.000 in the ground but make a noise like it. also we have to make the ground hostile for teams to come to, also thought fans and team have spirit of that we are all in this together. to try and keep us in Prem.

Totally agree, i thought Barton was superb on saturday, along with Faullin who oozes class.
I also thought Mackie was excellent, he is not just a dog chasing a paper bag he has a bit of quality about him.
To come away from a game my team had lost and be absolutely buzzing tells its own story.

We are also making the headlines for our vocal support which is great. It was deafening at times, something a Citeh fan commented to me on the tube after the game. He said it was the loudest he'd heard from ANY crowd for quite some time.
