Now this is going to sound exceptionally greedy - but how about Defore AND Pav. Defoe would be a massive, massive signing for us - infact, I'm struggling to think of a bigger one we've ever made.

You'd have to put Barton and SWP in that category. Without a shaddow.

Barton and SWP exceptionial signings for a club our size - not knocking them for a second but if you were being ultra critical you would say Barton hasn't established himself on the international stage and SWP's career has gone backwards the last few years (he hasn't lived up to the excitement of when he burst into the England team). Defoe on the other hand was our main man up front in the World Cup and has been a linchpin in the England side for years. You only have to look at the other big/ medium size clubs reported in the article to also be after him.
