Personal opinion Dave but for me Rooney is absolute top drawer.

Might not have the grace of Messi or the pass of Xavi but boy this kid knows where the goal is & very few in the world are better at putting it away.

I would say he has got the pass of Xavi. His vision is incredible and he delivers all sorts of passes. I think the last few years Xavi, as good as he is, gets talked about loads more simply because of the number of passes in a game, but that's due to the way they play and the majority are 5-10 yards, give it, get it back, give it, get it back repeat until there may be an opening.

Also could add to your list, Work rate, Technique, strength, either foot, Vision, awareness, speed of thought etc . Rooney is awesome without doubt.

really? All opinions i spose we all different 1s but, in mine, Rooney (like him or not) is a top top player and, without doubt, world class.

I wouldnt say Modric is, Id say he is a very very good player, but not quite world class IMO.

Maybe so mate. And yea tbf he did have that 9month period (which covered World Cup) after his ankle injury where we went off the boil, but previous to that injury he was unreal. Im sure i read that he had the same amount of goals at the time of his injury that Ronaldo did for Utd in the year he scored 31 PL goals (?) .

2nd half of last year and the start of this year is Rooney getting back to his best and, as the 2 previous posts, his attributes are endless! different type of player to the European and Samba stars but, IMO, just as good... if not better (barring Ronaldo & Messi!).

Yeah definitely see what you're saying Ric,and when you state his case as you have, yep have to admit he does get all types of goals.I spose I do look at him as just a goal scorer because he doesn't do the "riverdance feet " of say Ronaldo.

"World class", for me, should only be used for the top few players in each position, ie Valdes, Buffon, Vidic, Sergio Ramo, Messi, Xavi, Fabregas, Villa, Rooney etc.

Cor blimey Geezer, once youve untangled those knickers have a read back through the thread and see the civilised convo myself and Del had on this very subject. In there, you'll see Ive said about there probably being better keepers out there, btu i must say, overrated or not, any keeper that goes a top flight season letting in only 16 goals can hardly be called "dross".

Postman Pat will be at LR to watch, among others, SWP. The burning question is will Shaun try too hard to impress and so have a poor game after 2 worldy's or will it spur him on to an even better showing and perhaps, just maybe, a first goal in the hoops
