QPR, who have returned to the top flight with no shirt sponsors despite all the commercial contacts of their F1 connections, are close to agreeing a deal with on-line foreign exchange traders Alpari Forex for around £2.5million-a-year.

The club had failed to secure a kit deal throughout the summer because of the unrealistic prices they had been quoting and the uncertainty over the ownership.

Coincidentally, new QPR owner Tony Fernandes’s Air Asia company sponsor Premier League referees.

Never heard of Alpari Forex, and 2.5mill seems sod all. Maybe we'll get a training kit sponser for 100mill a year. Still can't get over united doing that, should be rules against that ****.

£2.5 million sounds pretty poor, but it's actually not that bad considering this August 2010 BBC article claims that seven of last seasons' clubs had deals worth less than £1m a year. It's only the big clubs that manage £15+ million a year.

That logo is, without doubt IMO, going to make our kit look alot more tacky.

£2.5m a year for a club our size, with a relatively low fan base is very good imo.... That pretty much covers Joey's wages.

Who knows, investors may be cagey, especially for promoted teams as they could go straight back down and get the least TV airtime of all clubs. A deal of this type could be on the expectation that if we stay up, the amount goes up next year as further investment would lead to a higher chance of us retaing status long term.

As for your comment about thetre should be rules against Utd getting their training kit sponsored.... why exactly. If a company wants to sponsor anything to do with Utd to get their name associated with the brand, its up to them. The FA have no say whatsoever, and if they tried it would be thrown out for restraint of trade etc. They actually got £40m deal over 4 yrs i think, bloody good business and surprised it didn;t happen sooner.

Think they need to reign in the power and influence of sponsers and the commerical element, obviously not going to happen. Look at the fuss kicked up my Usain Bolt's disqualification (not saying I'm in favour of the new rules) Just think the competitive element of football is getting pushed aside to we can just watch superstars winning with the right brands on them. Going to start calling Clubs franchises like the ####s do.

It's like Barca getting 300mill or whatever from the qatari charity ¬_¬ what kinda charity gives a football team that much dosh. Should bring in some standardised rules or make all the top teams sod off and be the harlem globetrotters and leave proper teams to it.
