As for Trani he is under 21 but he hasn't been registered to the FA for three seasons so again my understanding is that he would have to be included in the 25 to appear.
Nope I'm wrong. Any player under 21 is fine it's the homegrown players who have to be registered for three seasons.

Isnt that being registered for 3 years malarkey to do with homegrown players, not u21?
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

This article which was written last year states "After that the only players not on that list who can play will be any under the age of 21 on January 1, 2010." - therefore I would assume that date is now 2011 and not 2012. Not 100% sure - guesswork from me.

Jonathan Woodgate faces five months of sitting in the stands as the first high-profile casualty of the Premier League's new 25-man squad rule.

You are right see my post above yours. I got it wrong.

I've just checked the Premier League's website and it states: For the 2010/11 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1989 so I'd assume that for this year it will be 1st January 1990 and therefore Traore is over the age of 21 and must be named in the 25 man squad.

                  RangersRoar,
I never suggested Trani should be given one of the 25.
Only that Cerny could be dropped from the 25 so we could utilise for another outfield player as Trani would give us a 'free' 3rd choice keeper.

So Hewitt, Andrade, Harriman and Trani were all born after January 1st 1990 meaning none of them need to be named in the 25 and all will be eligible to play. Every other member of the senior squad will have to be in the 25 or risk missing out.

Not a bad idea, providing he is up to it at such a young age. In reality I think he needs to develop his goalkeeping ability this season.

Do we have to regerster 25? I think thats the maximum but you could easily have a squad of 22/23
Also can we still sign free agents today ?

Would be stupid to not register players though when you can have them? Doesnt cost money to register them, only negatives could possibley come from only registering 22/3

But why would we restrict ourselves when we have surplus players at the club... may as well name 25 if you have the means. Who knows what could happen, this virus we've had recently, another time could've wiped out 10 players.

Very rarely need more than a core of 20 to be honest 22/23 would be amble, depends whos going out on loan and wages i suppose i would only register 23 out of that squad, send Ageymang out on loan Hill goes back to Palace on loan bring in Degen as cover job done.
