Personally think it will be a travesty if we make 5 signings and one is not striker, not convinced about Bothroyd yet, need more experience up top.

Well we are talking about a player who has never really done it at the highest level, why put all your eggs in one basket when it doesn't look like we have to, Bothroyd a good signing but now we are moving in the transfer market we should be building on that.

Barton, SWP.....quality players, a top class striker would really throw the cat amongst the pigeons

If we could get a top stiker on top of the 5 players NW wants then great, but if a new striker is one of the 5 then I would rather shore up the back line with 3 signings and bring in Barton and SWP.

We still have the January window to improve further.

All of them have a single year left on their contracts just like Clarke did so if we can get him to leave I hope we can get some others. I'd love us to ship out a large number of players and plough the money back into signing young unknowns and developing players for two/three seasons down the line. The likes of Cleverley, Jones , Smalling and Wellbeck were unheard of three seasons ago and now look at them. Maybe a miracle is needed but would love to see us doing everything we can to unearth talent.

Tell you who we should keep tabs on: Kalou. Last year of his contract at Chelsea, not being offered another one, manager doesn't like him, free to talk to other clubs in January. Now that would be a big signing.
