A leader figure on the pitch, if Mahon is being put out to graze we have no natural leader in the team. Rowlands and Legs are not leaders and a winning team needs at least one

I don't think goalkeepers are best placed to motivate as captains - I do agree though that one of our defenders is a candidate - Gorkss for me is going to be a star again this season and could lead by example.

rowlands is a leader imo

Sorry disagree quite strongly about that. Rowlands just berates his teammates, particularly skillfull ones like Buzz who does not get along with, and his approach to Parejo last season as club captain was appalling. A leader knows when to berate, when to challange, when to encourage and when to console. Mahon is an excellent leader and we need a similar personality.

Connelly will make an excellent captain / leader but perhaps he still a little too young
