Think that's an old wives tale to make us believe that players are really worth these kind of wages they get paid nowadays.

I think back to the sort of players knocking about then and I really can't see how the PL has improve greatly, a few African bruisers, South American flair players and some continentals. It's the sort of thing people say and think to justify the cost of their Sky Box.
