I'm probably being guilty of Pete style blind optimism here but if Routs is making high wage demands could this be the club's - v risky- way of playing hard ball: accept less or find yourself farmed out to a championship club on yet another loan?Comment

Don't like the thought of any player at my club on that sort of money!Comment

Personally I don't think Routledge nor McAnuff nor Ambrose are good enough for the Premiership. I'm not saying Mackie or Smith are but I personally don't see a massive difference in terms of quality between the first 3 players and the ones we actually own. In fact when the going gets tough next season I'd rather have Mackie and Smith fighting for us.Comment

The main difference between them is the pace of Routledge, which can be deverstating if used properly.Personally I don't think Routledge nor McAnuff nor Ambrose are good enough for the Premiership. True but he's never used that pace in the Premiership to any great affect. He lacks an end product or the intelligence at that level. Again I'm not saying TS or JM will do better but both of them offer more in terms of commitment and intelligence.
If WR was to sign then of course I would be happy as we need options but I don't see WR being the difference between surviving and not surviving.Comment

I think Newcastle used him as an out and out winger, which was not successful. With us he was given more freedom to roam, and often found himself bursting through the middle, as for the goal at Reading and at home against Coventry and Hull, where he can murder centerbacks who generally have less pace than fullbacks.True but he's never used that pace in the Premiership to any great affect.
