A deduction of 5 or 6 points could yet push us down to 2nd or even 3rd place -- only the very smallest deduction could leave the league positions untouched.
I think we'd appeal if it meant us finishing 2nd rather than top as well.

First time poster on this website although have been viewing it for a while.

From what I am thinking (and worrying) there may well be truth in he article and what i think has prompted the club to issue the 2 statements is the fact that the alleged source knew how the disciplinery committee was being made up. Who else knew who would be sitting in on the hearing?

More worried about the creditability of supposed "leaks" as opposed to the legality of the leak.

Agreed but could be argued by the FA that with such a deduction it remains within our grasp to secure promotion i.e. win both games left and we are up and the FA can sleep easy (the win win siuation)

I agree with you my mind and heart tells me appeal if we are denied the title

But by the time we kn ow, we will only actually have one game left.
If we lose tomorrow and Norwich and Cardiff win on Monday, we are only 2/3 points in front -- so a 5 or 6 point deduction would cost us the title for sure and promo too.
