            I learnt Binary and it has never served me any use in my adult life that I am aware of. I have never gone into a grocers and asked for 110101 Bananas. And if I did, the grocer wouldn't know what I was talking about, serve me a hundred and ten thousand bananas and I wouldn't be able to afford them.

              Essential in IT but, other than that, just a mathematical trivia of interest to those of us with an interest in such things (although your PC wouldn't work without it -- it is the building block of bytes and data).
              But for IT people -- very necessary.
              Any base number system is of interest to pure maths people -- particularly like hexidecimals meself. Especially with a nice glass of red wine.
