The ground has been almost entirely financed by their owner, a Mr Tony Bloom, who can well afford it. Like us, they have by far the wealthiest owner in their division now, although this has only relatively recently become the case. For years they have been running at a loss, being helped through it by Mr Bloom who is a lifelong fan. The cost has been offset somewhat by the sponsorship of a large local employer. Personally dont like the sound of the "Amex Stadium" !!Originally posted by scuberry View PostBeen passed it a few times, and it's looking rather good, gotta say,am a tad jealous when a League 1 sides can get to build new stadiums (as with colchester)and we seemed doomed to be at LR for ever, how do they do it ????
Interestingly, and I don't blame him for this, his investment was an awful lot less prior to the planning permission finally being granted. For years, the club have struggled to make ends meet whilst trying to get a new "Home" sorted, and spent an awful lot of money just getting the approval.
There will no doubt be some government grants coming into play to a certain extent also. The ground will be owned by a "Trust", (controlled by the Bloom family no doubt), so that there can be no unscrupulous property issues in the future, which is indeed how they came to be kicked out of the old Goldstone Ground.
Facto is right, it is looking rather nice. But so would anything in comparison to the disgraceful hole they have been in for the last 10 year or more. And before that, they had to play at Gillingham!! Bit like us travelling to Reading for a home game.

sorry old chap but even in the prem unless away sides brought 5000 we'd struggle to hit 25000 imho.....mkdons have a ground adapted to increase if the situation demanded....id say 22500 with a futher 5000 increase possiblility miles big enough!!Originally posted by rangersroar View PostIf we get to the Prem, a capacity of 22,500 will not be big enough. We have got to be looking at 30,000.you know nothing john snow!!!!
