Has anyone considered that Mallya may have pulled out as a result of Briatore's F1 antics?
F1 is all about reputation and sponsors, etc. and you only have to look at the total rebranding and colour scheme of the Renault team this year to see how much they are trying to distance themselves from what happened. It would perhaps not have been viable for Mallya to associate a major sponsor of his Force India team (Kingfisher) with another sporting entity that is still publically owned and run by Briatore. Perhaps Bernie is buying Flavio's shares to encourage Mallya to reconsider. If anyone knows the impact of Briatore's antics then he does!
We might be reading too much into this. It might be simply that the Mittals are not 'selling out' at all but maintaining their current ownership with BE buying FB's shares to get him out of the loop to sweeten Mallya on the Kingfisher deal.
This doesn't answer the issue of ground ownership, etc. but perhaps that's not as important to Mallya as club ownership for sponsorship reasons?Comment

The rebranding of Renault has nothing to do with 'distancing', it has to do with ING no longer being their main sponsor and they've gone back to the traditional Renault colourscheme. If they get a new title sponsor they will change colours again, it happens all the time in F1 (apart from Ferrari of course).Comment

F1 is the most boring sport and that includes indoor bowls.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!Comment

If Bernie now has purchesed the fat orange one's shares, it has been said on here that he accuired the shares months ago.
How come flav can comment in a magazine that his dream is to appoint Lippe as coach, and yet flav should have no power at all, as most of his shares are now in the hands of Bernie, supposidly.
Smoke and mirrors.......methinks.They seek him here.................Comment

I'm well aware of the origins of the colour scheme's etc. but thank you anyway. I do strongly disagree with your assertion that their choice to revert to their original scheme has nothing to do with primary sponsors not wishing to be associated with them. It was very well documented at the time and going back to find examples whilst using an iPhone is somewhat tortuous, however:The rebranding of Renault has nothing to do with 'distancing', it has to do with ING no longer being their main sponsor and they've gone back to the traditional Renault colourscheme. If they get a new title sponsor they will change colours again, it happens all the time in F1 (apart from Ferrari of course).
"Two of the team's major sponsors, the Dutch bank ING and the Spanish insurance company Mutua Madrilena, ended their relationship with the team with immediate effect over the affair."
Provides one example. Renault struggled to find a primary sponsor after ING terminated their relationship early and as a result had to consider their participation in the sport altogether. Without being able to attract a primary sponsor they had to adopt themselves and thought it beneficial for future attempts to lure the money men to revert back to their racing colours of old thus reflecting their successful racing heritage whilst diverting attention away from their recent embarrassment.
Therefore IMO my point is still relevant and could explain recent possible share movements in QPR (to bring the discussion back on track).Comment

Not concerned about Mallaya not getting involved.
We#ve done weel this season without him and to be fair with Bernie/Flavio owning majority of the club. Sort of goes to show what happens off the field has no bearing on what happens on it.ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.
