Not convinced with Gorkks or Connolly

Gorkks did look like he had a hangover. There was one instance when his pace was exposed alarmingly. Looking at a game individually you might think he is poor.

But, we do have a decent record, although we have had a cpl of pens missed/saved etc.

If we go up pace is vital though. Gorkks may look out of his depth - it seems like he is getting slwoer, so maybe he does just need to rest a niggle or something.

I agree Roose that after 10 clean sheets out of 12 games its a bit harsh coming out with what i have posted but watching us last night we looked so vulnerable to the counter attack and players running at us. Im just not so sure a Gorrks Connolly pairing is the way forward for us. Just my opinion

The reason Gorkks and Connors struggled was because they were completely exposed due to the side pushing for an equaliser and that stupid to sser Taraabt losing the ball and bristol city counter attacking. I have played centre half and they had zero protection because we found ourselves chasing the game. Taraabts constant giving the ball away made us very vunerable. Can't blame the defence for this one mate.

You are spot on Nodge but people won't see that on fri we were exposed because of 1 man. The man with the biggest ego outside the premiership. If he were as good as he thought I would say we would be wks away from promotion. Adel grow up and try and learn from mistakes and listen to your fu *king manager for a change or you will go nowhere except down.

Agree Toni pleased you are also worried about our recent form. The only game I have missed is swansea and by all account we played a little better but our form is definately a concern but not the defence toni. We need to look further up the field to see where the clear problem lies.

Exposed or not exposed the bottom line is the pair of them have no pace and as i have played centre half myself i know that ideally you want 1 of the 2 to have a bit of pace about them.
But for all the people coming on here making out im moaning because we havent won for 3 games are well off the mark.

I've seen all those games. Conceded 1 goal. Nothing wrong with our defence. No holes, no miscommunication, no clangers, well organised, well drilled and work as a unit and hell, not even any real errors.

The only real problem lies with the one player who is either incapable or doesn't want to keep possession of the football within the TEAM placing unnecessary pressure on his colleagues.

And if you honestly think the last 4 games have been "gash" - where the hell have you been for the past 4 seasons?

Nodge70 - we are top, we have the best defensive record, but that doesn't mean there is "nothing" wrong with our defence. It isn't perfect and we need to look ahead to the rest of the season, we are not home and dry yet.

There is one thing our defence stuggles with at times and you can see clearly that Gorkks is pretty slow or has been recently.

Doesn't mean he isn't a good player, but to suggest no one is allowed to look at, analyse and criticise aspects of performance just because we are top is daft.

The lack of pace within the central two is one of the reasons why Walker has been brought in. Just as Forbes swept behind Palmer and Shittu, Walker does the same behind Connolly and Gorkks. Connolly isn't slow either. Defence is one area where we are relatively ok and have strength in depth.

Our defence is the best in English Football, despite us "being exposed" we have still only conceded 4 goals and 1 in last 3.

These are the teams in our league, yes we play in the N POWER CHAMPIONSHIP!! So we will face players who arent good enough to score past our "EXPOSED" defence!

If we go up, maybe we may require a fast centre half in the Faye @ Stoke or a bruiser in the Hangerlaand type, but till then please Gorrks/Connolly keep getting exposed game after game, as when we start scoring again and Hulse comes good, guess what;

We will be getting "exposed" and our defence getting then run around whilst winning 2-3 NIL...

Have respect for you as a poster but I think the dig in your post is slightly over the top. Adel should have cost us 2 goals and his passing and shooting was sunday league level.

His quality form from early on in the season has well and truely disappeared. Needs to go back to basics IF he keeps his place.

Answer to your questions (as I think you have misunderstood)

Adel was pants on Friday, worst game ever for us, and was responsible for the goal they scored and was rightly taken off.

My post is addressing the original thread starter whom, is questioning OUR defence being exposed and not good enough.
