Jason Scotland is 31. Likely on similar wages to Jason Roberts. I think we would be much better off buying someone younger with upside. he's also only 5 ft 8, so once his pace goes, what's he got left?

Luke Varney has a fair record at this level, is 27, and will command lower wages that someone stepping down from the prem.

Jay Simpson, based on last year's form, looks a good bet, and still has some upside. if he got 12 goals last year, surely one could expect 15+ this year.

I don't think that Warnock sees in Simpson is what you and I see.He never seemed to be a big fan and regularly played Simpson out of position on the right wing and hence his effectiveness and goals dried up towards the end of last season.
