Something he and many many others on message boards struggle to do mate. You are worried because of a number on someones back and are reading too much into it. It has nothing to do with being hypocritical it's about thinking outside of the box. If I've offended you then I apologise but if you think than the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea etc will pick numbers 1-11 to play the majority of their games this season then you are wrong. No difference of opinion or being hypocritical numbers on shirts mean nothing.

People seem to forget that last line. It's just facts that some people can't accept so they turn it on realists like us and say we are moaning.Don't often disagree with you SirP but I think you are wrong about the quality of this squad compared to those. Burnley spanked us three times that year (and another draw) and were a decent team. One of the best (or at least most attractive) I saw at Rangers tbh. Our squad hasn't progressed much since the team that played there. I haven't researched it (always dangerous when answering you!) but I do recall Blackstock scored in one and Di Carmine in the cup game and both of them have gone. Plus ledesema and parejo gone. Rest outfield will be more or less the same. We have added Clarke Mackie Hill Derry. I'd say that is neutral or worse.
And look at them and compare them now.... worrying if you fancy going up..

No big point to make - just that this squad as it stands can't compete with the top flyers in this league. Not even moaning about it - just a fact.Comment

Yes, I didn't mention the added losses of Routledge Simpson and Tarrabt in my earlier post above as that was about the Burnley/R's teams that played each other that year (and don't think any of these actually played in the Burnley games but may be wrong). But add them in and that is what I meant about relative "strength" of the current squad moving in the wrong direction.Comment

Have to agree with you about Burnley, they looked like an improving side the season before they went up and were the best most attractive side I have seen at LR in years the season of their promotion.Last edited by W12_Ranger; 29-07-2010, 12:24 PM.Comment

I still don't see where there is a problem. You've already said yourself that when Anelka signed all the numbers had been taken up so he took number 39. If 1-20 all disappear and then by some streak of luck we sign a decent striker who is worthy of a number 9 shirt then I don't care what number they wear. As I said I wouldn't read too much into what Helguson or Clarke are wearing because if pre season is anything to go by both won't start. If we do sign a quality striker then great. If we don't and had left those numbers open some would argue that it looks odd to have no 7, 8 or 9.So you don't find the fact that Leon Clarke and Heidar Helguson have been handed #8 and #9 odd, when we are apparently after 2 more strikers, "the icing on the cake" type? The way im reading it is that no more strikers are coming in, so Clarke and HH have been given '8 and #9. If we had players lined up im sure those numbers would have been kept free like #2 has for Bradley Orr, Ramage has actually been moved to #22 for that to happen. We have #7 available which will be given to our right winger.Comment

Utter jibberish mate, all our numbers arn't taken up so you can't compare Clarke getting #8 to Anelka getting #39. Anelka couldn't have 7,8,9,10 as they were taken. We had a choice of who to give #8 and #9 to and we chose 2 donkeys instead of waiting.I still don't see where there is a problem. I probably know more about Burnley then I do QPR having worked with an ST holder for the past 6 years. Look at Eagles record in the CCC and then ask a Burnley fan what they think of him - the Hairdresser - they want rid of him because he is a show pony. Back in January most turned their noses up at Steven Thompson when he was linked with us. Paterson is much better than any of our strikers but Akinbiyi? Rodriquez? Penny got dropped after 1 match and Jensen (The Beast) is definitely not as good as Kenny. Elliot is as good as Buzsaky, Alexander and Derry have similarities (old, grey, slow, workhorse) but do the job that needs doing. Carlisle and Duff are solid but IMO no better or worse than Gorkss and Connolly. Jordan makes Hill look quick. Gudjohnsson is one of those that people think is better than he actually is.Don't often disagree with you SirP but I think you are wrong about the quality of this squad compared to those. I take Elliott and Paterson to improve our squad but nobody else. They were a unit made up of hard working players.Comment

I'm loving seeing Stew Peas relegated to 18, with Matty C keeping 16.
HH with the number 9 is a little worrying though. It seems Legs and Hall are in his 1st team plans as well?
Good to see the number 2 (Orr) and 7 left open as well.Your mum would love me...Comment
