Couple of Plymouth fans at the match last night had come along to see him and buzz play.. They reckon he is way better than he's been given credit for and they were gutted to see him go...
      We got our Ranger's back!

        Glad we agree!

Like I say, totally understand the dubiousness of some of the other signings, but it's too easy to include him, even though he's 24 and only improving and wanting to improve right now.

I think most people, myself probably included, weren't doing kartwheels when we signed him because a) We had not really heard of him, and b) His goalscoring ratio isnt that good.
But reading this thread has given me re-newed hope. Maybe he could be a gem of a signing. Warnock certanly didnt waste anytime bringing him in.

i ahd high hopes for mackie as soon as we signed and still have.
i also had the same hopes for clarke but they have diminished a tad after last night,a nd my mind keeps flashing the words 'maybe he is just a proper donkey' in my head now.

Clarke is being slated by people who were not at the game for not scoring. In my experience a hold the line forward rarely scores, apart from at corners and free kicks, his job (a la Heskey) is to bring other players in to score. We scored 8 last night and he was involved in several, so I am not going to write him off just yet.

              Also agree about Mackie.

Clarke is a big big gamble, I wouldn't want to pin our goalscoring hopes on him

im so not a person to knock someone after one game, especially a friendly against the dog and duck, and i really hope he comes good.
but there was a couple of chances on that video that had me wincing and thinking heres another one who finds it a lot easier to miss than score. goal scoring is a knack, youve either got it or you aint.
and judging by people who have seen him and said he hasnt, added th last nights sneak preview and the fact he was a free, my alarm bells started today after a lot of optimism.
and he deffo cant be our only striker, if we go into the season with no-one new alongside him im changing my name to jeffro mason.

I am not pinning all my hope on Clarke and agree that we need more forwards and quality, consistent performers at that. But I am not going to write Clarke off after one game with his new team mates and a weeks training with them. It takes a little time.
