Are you concerned at Warnock's signings?

Now im a Palace fan and not here to gloat or anything like that but to just get your general consensous on what your opinions are of Neil Warnock's signings so far compared to players that George Burley is supposedly in talks with to sign for Palace.

So far you have signed Clint Hill, Sean Derry, Jamie Mackie, Leon Clarke, is there anymore to add to that?

Currently Palace have signed David Wright to replace Hill, and are in advanced talks with James Harper on a free to replace Derry, Andy Dorman from St Mirren, and Clinton Morrison, with George Burley stating that he is likely to sign 6 or 7 players within the next week or so.

At the moment we dont know the names of any other players Burley is talking to but do you not agree that with Warnock signing Clint Hill and Sean Derry that the players Palace have signed to replace these in David Wright and James Harper are better players and surprised Warnock didnt go for these instead?

It just seems that warnock, like when he was at Palace just tends to target Players he has worked with previously rather than trying new ideas.

Think you´re right. He´s getting old and might have problems thinking new. I`m worried. Hill and Clarke are not the players we should be after if we are serious in our promotion ambition.

Clint Hill - Was loved by the Palace fans for his commitment and desire but in my honest opinion is definately not a left back which is where warnock always played him, has no where near enough pace to be a full back and everytime the opposition winger would easily get past him, i think that was especially evident in the game when you played us at Selhurst last season. I think he much better at centreback where he can do a proper job of defending, again though it's his pace that lets him down. Also his distribution was pretty poor at times and always seems to look for the long ball pass option rather than short meaning 9 times out of 10 we lost possession. sadly, last season his performances did appear to go slighly downhill as the season went on, but always plays with his heart on his sleeve and will fight for the cause but other than that not many other attributes.

Sean Derry - A great leader and a great captain for us in tough times, and played every minute of every game for us last season. He isn't the greatest but isn't the worst but is by no means a stand out player. Very rarely makes forward passes and goes sideways a lot of the time, when he does have a bad game he has a very bad game but when on form can be influential for the team, again though, age is catching up with him and wouldnt say he is the sort of midfielder you need if your intent on looking for promotion. Also, his shooting is woeful, most of his shots would be more applicable at Twickenham rather than on a football pitch.

Darren Ambrose - Let me just say it's unlikely he will be joining you, has reported back for pre-season training at Palace today and expected to resume talks with Burley over a new contract and he is happy to stay with us, i know that as a matter of fact. Right, Darren in a lot of games can be very quiet and appears he is missing but he is the sort of player that can pop up with a goal at anytime, he is that sort of player. when on the ball he has premiership class, you can tell that by a mile and really stands out, he can pick out any pass available whether that be 5 yards or 60 yards, his set pieces are probably the best i have seen at Palace in a long long while and is a goal threat from almost most of them within 40 yards from goal. He is a very composed player and again expecting a good season from him again under Burley this season.

Jobi McAnuff - Another player when he was with us that blows hot and cold, when playing well he is a dangerous player to have and can create plenty of chances and is good on the ball, when playing poorly though he is awful, has decent pace but his final delivery can be a big let down, can normally score around 5-10 goals a season, was a fans favorite but for some reason Jobi is a player that doesn;t seem to settle at a club for too long either, hasn't stayed with a club for more than 2 seasons with his last 4 clubs.

Also, on a side note i heard a whisper that Danny Butterfield could now be another player who has been released by us which Warnock may take on.

This sounds like a phrase i have heard from someone else very close to us.

I think that NW has got both Derry and Hill in to be influences in training and in the dressing room, although I do think that he will use Derry to hold and let Faurlin and Buzz go forward more. I expect to see NW add the 'icing' in the next week or so and then we can judge his transfer dealings. NW is building a whole set up at LR from backroom to first team and I have got confidence that he will get it right.

The situation with Ambrose is that he is waiting to see whats best deal for him, like all players who play in this day and age, its not about the club they play for its about the best deal for them, so I wouldn't go overboard about how much he loves palace or the fact he will stay with you.

On your other points, I can understand going to Palace for players, but in my humble opinion to truly aspire for promotion we needed your best players and its fair to say we got the worst.

Notwithstanding the fact that it makes me sick that you paid over the odds for players and have not been punished in any way (the 10pts meant nothing in the end as you stayed up), keeping your players whilst defaulting on the debts to organisations like the St. John's Ambulance and to other small businesses, I think you may have a point.

Warnock likes battlers; you know all about that because he got rid of one of your CBs (can't remember his name) as he'd never been booked to sign Clint Hill in the first place. Our side proved time and time again last year that there was no bottle or fight within its ranks and certainly no leaders, so whilst I appreciate Derry and Hill may be the wrong side of 30 and their legs may be on their way out, their presence is EXACTLY what we need.

Paddy Kenny is the other signing you didn't mention and I think he is an excellent signing at this level, certainly better than Cerny.

Leon Clarke is, as Warnock has stated, a bit of a gamble, but the goal he took against your lot during the last game of the season showed he has something; if we turn out to be the club for him, then who knows? He was a freebie and worth a gamble in my view.

Jamie Mackie is still young and has bags of potential; whether he fulfils it at QPR, who knows, but we'll give him a chance.

David Wright is steady, no more. The fact that he himself is quoted as saying that he has spent 70-80% of his career in the Championship says it all; this is his level and he won't take you on further.

Harper may not end up with you like Ambrose may not end up with us; but he's another 'OK, not special' player.

I know nothing about Dolman and whilst Morrison WILL score at least two against us this season (he always does), forget your sentiment and ask why he was released by COVENTRY - says it all really.

So, I see no better for your lot than mid-table, but you should be happy with that as your overspending under the Orange one should have resulted in at least one relegation - compare your situation to Salisbury City's who have been demoted TWO divisions for not doing something that your lot haven't done either as far as I am aware.

Will you finish above us? Probably, as you have consistently shown yourself to be a club that falls into a bucket of poo and come out smelling of roses whilst we are one that, it we fell into a bucket of breasts, we'd come out sucking our thumb.
