Just got back from my holiday so couldn't go.
my mate is a baggies fan and went.
He said it was a fair result, they had most of everything but we defended well.
Said our support was good for a lunchtime kickoff.

Quite an impressive overall defensive display today that has lifted my thoughts on being able to compete this season.
Whatever changes Stéphan made at HT he rectified them getting in behind Mbengue after the second half began.
Scarlett and Poku looked decent when we got them involved. Vale looked lost today trying to partner Burrell and surprised Stéphan continues to flog him every game despite poor form.
Dembele must be getting close to returning so hopefully increases our ability to provide better service to Burrell, rumours that Kone got married yesterday meaning he might return in a better headspace.

Sorry for being annoying and boring but I want to stop shooting from outside box.

4% of shots outside box result in goal. 15% of shots inside box result in goal.

Vale has taken 17 shots for no goals. Burrell 12 shots for two goals.

We need more crosses and passes into box, create chances in penalty area.

Errr.. where have the goals we have conceded come from this season? We put several hundred crosses into box at Charlton and did eff all with any of them. There is nothing wrong with taking a pot-shot at goal from 18+yds out, might catch the goalie with his weight on the wrong foot, might deflect in or for a corner. We DO seem to be getting more and more paranoid about actually pulling the trigger. It was noticeable today how we refused to take several opportunities to break on Albion but chose to go sideways/backwards instead, a reticence to go for tge jugular has crept in. There is nothing wrong with looking after the ball and patiently creating an opening but there has to be a pay-off to it. We have played 180 minutes of very predictable one-dimensional shot-shy football these past few days - mixing up our approach and sprinkling a few shots from outside the bix into our approach would be an entirely reasonable thing to do. Bottom line is we can't be drawing blanks against teams like Chsrlton and Bolton. Preston will pack their defence... we need to batter it down with a combination of tippy-tappy build up, crosses from either side, probing through the middle AND whizzing some speculative efforts at goal. The more variation the better.

Yes, composed and tidy, dunno why he got hooked for last 10? Be interesting to see if he has any pace about him - couldn't tell today, he opted to keep possession rather than have a go at skinning his opponent.
