huffed and puffed but bar vale hitting bar boro were comfy
put your best starting 11 out js we never got going 1st half too many lightweight starting line not sure how long he’s out for but he’s been a complete passenger this season and needs to step up if kolli is fit he’s better regardless of attitude games played with talent
a defeat move on and bounce back
Totally agree start with your best side and Kone is never ever in that team like playing with ten men with him. Apart from that a good performance and not downhearted. Always had a goal in us and a much improved side just need some quality up front to keep Burrell company

Kolli stronger quicker imo better finisher hits a decent ball with power
Also when at home get the home kit on like the black one away but home get home kit on

I think the club needs to make a statement on Kolli. Is he still an option or is he just seeing out his contract out of the matchday squad. Also, where is Obikwu? He was on the bench against Cardiff so must be near match fitness.
To be fair this is our first defeat since pre-season! That's eleven games. Not considering Millwall as a defeat. It finished in a draw and just get eliminated through a lottery. Like the national lottery it was for us! Why he withdraw Lloyd I cannot format. He is young, trying to impress and can run all day! Then to put Kone in? Also needs Kolli back in the team. Apart from Burell he is the best striker we have at the club. Nobody can hit the ball like him. Please Mr. Stephan ... give him a run.
A total balls up by JS with the team selection.
We had 3 possibly 4 wingers on at one time..
Kone who lacks any stamina , doesn't even jump for headers or ever bully the centre halves..
Burrell scores 2 midweek and gets dropped.
Lamptey who was excellent midweek dropped.
Kamara dropped..
Play your best team man , worry about injuries when and if they happen.

Was going to say exactly the same thing myself. JS talks about managing the players but Kone and Chair who played none or little of the last game both go off with injuries in the first half anyway. So just stick with your best team, injuries seem unavoidable in the modern game so little point tinkering with selection every game.
Starting midfield was a big issue, literally not one natural CM on pitch in first half.
He is certainly obsessed with mollycoddling players who have been injured. But I don’t think anything would have made much difference to the result today. They have our number I’m afraid.
We are still a work in progress and a major part of that revolves around the striker position. I agree that Frey was better than Kone (Celar almost certainly was too). But our style of play didn’t and still doesn’t provide much of what a CF thrives upon. So an out of form Kone has no chance really. JS needs to resolve this. Good luck!
My first game this season and I went to see where we were really at against a side like Boro. I think there’s plenty of cause for optimism.
Eventually Cirkin and Lamptey will be on either side of our defence, and that’s not to be sniffed at. Edwards looks great this season, and I thought Saito did well despite a few unwarranted shots. Burrell looks to have bounced back positively from his injury, Kamara looks good, and Dunne was at his best. Charles is immense.
We’ll play worse than that and win this season, and the ghosts of minute 45-60 from last season look to have somewhat vanished. We were great in the second half and the fact that Boro resigned themselves to time wasting is telling. They’ll smash teams this season, their 11 is full of good footballers.
All that said, we need to talk about Kone. I think the experiment is over. No movement and zero presence despite his size. I don’t understand why he’d ever start over Burrell. I’d drop him and make him work for it, Burrell will run teams ragged and is far more inventive. If Kone can get it together and use it all properly, his size and strength would be a great asset in the latter stages of games.
First half team lacked belief and looked a bit frightened . Second half much better and hope Vale scores soon! Kone was playing well until injury and battled on. Great player for squad to have. Many today very good and no one not. But for a poor effort tacking by smythie we might have come away with something but he gives 100% and scares oppos
Burrell is our Shocktrooper who will give us leads in matches. I see Kone more as a forward who can also graft when we have a lead to protect. Lamptey and Kamara to start Iwould have thought was a given in this promotion 6 pointer against Boro. I'm not too disheartened by today's result and I'm sure we'll bounce back, but we must learn not to commit suicide before a ball is kicked as we did today.
Ironic that after playing rotation, and resting our best players to try to prevent injuries, the 2 injuries we pick up today was a player who didn't feature at all on Wednesday and one who played a little over 10 minutes on Wednesday.
Abs gave a bit of back history on Burrell which was fair comment, even though I dont remember him playing any pre-season friendlies.
But Lamptey has been injured for two years and ran himself into the ground on Wed. Its a long season and let the guy recover.
I still dont have an issue witn the starting team, but msybe Edwards going central defensive midfield..cant remember who mentioned the gap at DM, but good shout
Its not Butrell's fault Kone has been sh1te. We need to use all our squad eatly doors. When everyone is back up to speed let's see how it goes.
But modern football isnt about attacking players hitting 35-40 games a season and Rooney said in a recent podcast thst in his first Man Utd training sessions he was running around trying to impress and by the end of his career they were taking him off training because hed done enough running for that session. Ive also heard that blood testing of players can predict that theyre close to breaking down
Who knows what goes on protecting million pound assets? Haarland plays a lot, until he got a stress fracture!
Julien Stéphan’s scatter gun approach to team selection comes to the fore again.
Who in their right mind would allow Boro to outnumber us in midfield again after last seasons heavy defeats, then to top it all bring on the flimsy body frame of Saito to wrestle back possession in central midfield..
If he starts any of Madsen, Kamara or Varane against Charlton questions need to be asked if he’s using a tombola for team selections.
