BURNLEY HAVE MADE AN OFFER

Burnley have made an offer for QPR defender Ronnie Edwards. The clarets have reportedly offered £10 million with it rising to potentially £12.5 million.

QPR are expected to reject with the R’s in no rush to sell Ronnie. QPR’s board are believed to holding out for in excess of £18 million.

Edwards joined in January from Southampton for around £4.5 million. They do hold a sell on clause.

I wonder how Ronnie feels about it, seemed genuinely happy to be here, and his family are R's supporters.
I would love him to stay,he's definitely a quality player, but if we were to get 15m+ we have to be looking sell.

18m and its a deal. Saints apparently due 30% so we need to to get decent amount if we happy to do a deal. Anything less and its not worth selling him. Burnley have loads of money to spend so they will keep upping their bid hopefully. Love Ronnie but 18m for a guy we bought for 4.5 is just good business.

You could well be right, but there does seem to be a ceiling for players in the championship, with potential to be able to play in the premiership.

I think this will come down to any sell on clause and bonuses that will give us some drip money in the future, just like the Eze deal. Burnley getting promotion, staying in the prem and England call ups etc

If we can get £15m up front we'll have done very well for ourselves and hold a decent wad of cash to reinvest into our squad.

Personally, I dont think we can afford to turn down a decent chunk of change. When Burnley get promoted again the add-ons will be spare change to them. Its a credit to CN that we've found a team with parachute money that wants one of our players.

It will be sad if he goes, but I think losing Burrell would be a bigger loss. Getting the money in is our model and this is what our scouting network is there to produce. In a way Id be happy if he went as it gives me hope that the club is moving in the right sustainable direction.

We could do a lot with £12-15m on the hip. The world will keep spinning and more players will come in that will make use have some quality in depth.

We're lucky to have him and I'm sorry but 12m for what will become an established premier League player in the future is nowhere near enough. 20m and then we should consider because Burnley have sold over 100m in talent. I know a season ticket holder and they're gutted but they can certainly afford to show us a fraction of that money

I would be inclined to agree, particularly with the Rayan Kolli suspense thriller continuing; however, the loss of Edwards can't be understated. We needed to bring him back last season to shore up our defence (dispatching Liam Morrison to Scotland simultaneously) and this while we still had Steve Cook. With the loss of Sam Field and uncertainty over Varanne as defensive mid cover, I don't think it would be prudent to mess around now.

I’ve watched this lad make his debut for pboro at 16 and he was unbelievable on the ball then fair enough l1 but he just had it.

when we picked him up on loan some were like he can’t get I Southampton who are struggling but he’s got it to play higher up the leagues. I see it as a bit of waste of to cash in now when we potentially have our best defence squad for a long time boy temper and lamptey coming in then leaves jcs sick note or mbengue or Morrison to fill in with jimmy none of those bring the ball out from the back or have Ronnie potential

I hear you, but its highly unlikely that he'll gain premiership experience with us to reach those higher transfer fees. But we can get 25-30% by letting him develop with Burnley. CBs dont get bought for £50m from championship clubs and Burnley are more likely to go up then us.

We've all moaned about players running down their contracts and leaving for next to bugger all. I dont know what our finances are, but having lost, I think £55m over the last three years, we cant ignore a potential an instant £8-10m profit and perhaps the same coming to us again in 2-3 yrs time.

In footballing terms youre bang on the money. But lookipng at it from a financial perspective for a small club youre way off the mark. We are, and will always be a selling club who needs transfer money to try and complete with the bigger clubs

This profit and the original £4.5m could help the finances and fund a few more players. There might be another Ronnie out there waiting for us to pick him up.

The transfer window is open until 1st Sept.

I think theres plenty of outgoings and incomings to go yet.
