I hope the groundstafff are getting a hauling over the coals! Our pitch is so bad and so badly looked after it must have contributed to this spate of injuries over the winter period.
time for Kolli and Bennie to shine as losing Burrell for that long is a real blow.
We do need to get some cover in especially at centre back as cook probably can’t play every game now

I did spot that Burrell got trod on (ie contact injury) and thought that as it wasn't a hamstring tear he'd be okay. I seem to have badly underestimated the damage though.
I have to be honest, I don't think the others are much loss. Recently, Varane has been average at best and the rest are never fit anyway. It just leaves the matchday squad very thin. Be interesting to see if Sammy Field can get a run of starts in his favoured Field the Shield role and recapture his form and mojo. I'd like to see Kolli come in as a direct replacement for Burrell too - I like having 2 up front.
Bottom line is we have to suck it up and get on with it - no moaning, whining, wallowing, carping.... get on and play the hand we've been dealt. One door closes, another door opens.

Personally don’t think it’s the end of the world particularly if Edwards signs.
Burrell is the only real notable miss because;
Field or Hayden can cover for Varane.
Plenty of wide options and Poku has hardly featured.
We look better without Chair anyway
Morrison back in training next week.
Chance for Kolli to shine and bring Bennie into squad as he’s looked great for the u21s

I did notice the West Ham pitch was fantastic the other night, like a carpet. I would hope our lot will manage to negotiate the warm up and the game with no pitch-related mishaps. But, knowing how we are, I wonder if one of 'em will find a way of concussing themselves on the team bus journey to Stratford? I wouldn't rule out anything with our FA Cup history....

watching some of the highlights of fixtures this time last year and the pitch was in no way near as bad as it is now- there were still bare patches down the ellerslie road side but the rest was in much better condition than it is now. I am not sure what happened in the loft penalty area but there are gouges and track marks live something has been dragged across the grass rather than lifted.
Also the sprinkler heads are leaving quite a bit of damage too.

It seemed okay before Christmas and then bang, it looked as if it had been left unwatered in the summer heat. With UV pitch lamps and watering it seems very odd. With big new stadia, especially Wembley, the weight of the stands can make it difficult for the grass roots to bed in. Perhaps the pitch issues are due to the stands being so close to the pitch and the types of grass seed in use. I thought the current modern "grass" also has a plastic compound in it?Originally posted by 3London View Postwatching some of the highlights of fixtures this time last year and the pitch was in no way near as bad as it is now- there were still bare patches down the ellerslie road side but the rest was in much better condition than it is now.
