The only person I see Chair ousting from our current team is Madsen. I really don't ever want to see Chair pissfarting about on the left anymore - we have speedier and more direct options for the flanks now. However, I feel Chair offers everything Madsen has but probably with a bit mote thrust, zip and imagination too. But, whilst Madsen continues to do okay it wouldn't be fair to drop him so Chair has to sit on the bench I think.

As everyone says not been his best really since his brush with the law. At the moment only a squad player at best. Would probably sell tbh and move on. But always remembering what a great player he was and his service to the club. Better to leave on a reasonable high than rot away on the bench

That's all spot-on. The only thing wrong with this thread is suggesting he's some sort of asset worth £millions.... right now, any move would be roughly "sideways" and almost certainly under a million. If his family like London it kinda limits things to Millwall, Charlton, Watford, Luton and Reading at the mo' but I dunno what reasonable commuting distance is for a pro footballer these days so maybe likes of Pompey, Saints and Ipswich creep into play.Originally posted by DJ Hooper W12 View PostAs everyone says not been his best really since his brush with the law. Frankly the ideal solution is he regains his mojo, benefits by having good players around him, adapts to the JS methodology and fulfils his potential with us. No point selling a player with a depressed transfer value is there?

I think Chair will be a very useful squad member this season, yes he holds onto the ball too long but that was down to Marti wanting to play possession based football and he had crap players around him. Now with better players and getting the ball forwards quicker Chair will be good for us .

Yes perhaps give him some time under JS and see what happens. I think we owe him that at least. There is definitely a different attitude in the team at the moment and he needs to take notice and maybe be a bit more of a team player and accept things have changed.Originally posted by Abseits View Post

But Tbf been a while since he’s been anything like his old self. Agree don’t see a value over one mill at best, in this country anyway

Saito is far more effective because he has skill, the work rate of the old Chair but fundamentally he gets himself into good positions and passes the ball, creates space for others and plays the team game.
Chair only ever did that for us when playing alongside Willock.
I think Madsen has finally found his feet and offers a more complete player, Laudrup-esque in that central role. He's quiet but effective.
Chair is loud and ineffective at best, now, elusive and inneffective at worst. I like him for his work rate in the past and clear desire, in League One he's a match winner, here he's just not got what we need moving forwards.
