Yeah, considering Blades fans thought he was rubbish and were glad to see the back of him, I was very suprised about how well he played.
Hopefully he can get himself back into the Wales squad shortly, which will be a huge boost for him too.
Yes. Encouraging start. I would temper it with fact he had the hard-working Smyth in front of him offering some protection. Mostly our LBs are left marooned on their on own with not much in front of them, certainly no out-and-out winger who will hug that flank and track back. But, notwithstanding that he looked like a calm assured fullback who understood his role.
More generally we seemed to have much better shape yesterday.
Yep, he played well. Had good intensity and defended aggressively. Seems a good character too.
Completely agree with this.
Has'nt looked good the previous times i've see him play but i was pleasently surprised yesterday , he done better than i expected.
A norrow victory for us and what a great side Kazakhstan have and a fantasic stadium.
I saw yesterday it kicked off at 3pm our time and thought flipping heck, Sheepy will probably turn up at 7:45pm GMT and wonder where everyone is.......

Haha....It was 7pm KO local time and I just followed everyone else, like a sheep!!
Lovely place Astana and the natives are so friendly. People walking up to us wanting their photo taken with and waving tp us as the FAW bus took us to the stadium. Off to Almaty now, which is next to the Kyrgyzstan / China boarder. I have no idea why these play in European football.
Saw the 17yr old Kazak lad play last night who Chelsea have agreed to sign when he's 18.....what a player!! They invested heavily in their coaching and are on the up. There were four players last night who were in the Almaty side that knocked Celtic out of the Champions League. Nourry needs to get his laptop out and sign up some of these players while they're still cheap! We were lucky to win last night and it wont be long before the Kazakhstan national team will be flying up the FIFA rankings.
Rhys got a 30min run out for a much changed Wales side tonight in a friendly. He finished the game so should be okay for Sat. Nice for him to get another cap though, he must be very happy despite the team losing 0-1
I'd imagine he'll be happy to come back to the R's. Playing for Wales against Canada is probably like coming on for Leatherhead against Chertsey town deary me

Sounds good - exactly the sort of light run out he'd need so not coming back "rusty", tired or crocked is perfect for us I reckon. If he can just negotiate our Bermuda Triangle of a Training Centre tomoz he might actually be fit and raring to go Saturday.

Yeah, my thoughts too.
Its England v Wales at Wembley on Thursday 9th Oct in a meaningless stupid friendly, just four days before our crunch game at home to Belgium the following Monday in the WC Qualifiers. The Wales team for England will be full of young / fringe players, so I expect Rhys will get a run out again. It will be great for him to experience a game against England at Wembley, and good for QPR too. I just hope you dont thrash us too much!!
