Don't tell me .... Before this weekend's events you were intent on putting £50 on the Charlton fixture!

This weekend has given an entirely new meaning to the expression "being sent to Coventry."

Been supporting this side for over 40 years. Only time I remember being shell shocked was after League Cup final against Oxford. Beat some great sides to get to the final, felt confident going into it and got battered. My dad worked every weekend but following Saturday took me to see us at home to Spurs. Ended up sat behind some Spurs supporters and at one stage they were 5-0 up before we got a couple of consolations. That was a brutal week.

Since our relegation from the top flight in the 90s have seen some utter dross year after year with the odd high spot or two. 7-1 at Coventry left me feeling if anything a little contempt. All this talk of projects, us being dark horses (more like My Little Pony) and we can't even put out a fit looking, organised side was nothing short of pathetic. Coventry are a good side but what I would have expected is for us to go in there, make them work for it and if we lose by a goal or two so be it. That should be the minimum. We put out a fairly strong looking side. There is no excuse.

Having had a couple of days to cool down have come to the conclusion we maybe needed that wake up call. Have had the usual excuses in other games of only playing for 45 mins and need to improve a bit etc. If a thrashing like that doesn't wake the side up nothing will. we need to be on the front foot from the first minute, be aggressive and move the ball around with pace and purpose. If we continue in the current vein we will be mediocre with every chance of meeting the bookies expectations of going down. The squad we have is plenty good enough to stay up and with the potential to play some exciting stuff if used correctly.

Over the last few seasons we have been overall a pretty poor side , playing boring football. But occassionally we pull out a performance like West brom 2-2 and Leeds 4-0 we battered both , played faster , looked more determined and energetic and generally looked a good side. I honestly believe there is something badly wrong at this club where the players don't really care and can't be bothered most of the time , not sure about the cause , maybe just lingers from the Premier days when a lot of the players did'nt give a ####. It's a shame we could'nt have a DOF like Warnock and a manager that would'nt put up with anything less than 100% from every player and coach at this club.

Noury doesn’t have a scooby. The owners are being completely mugged by him

We couldn't play fast aggressive football because we never had the squad depth to cope with the injuries that would follow. Marti knew this and just about hauled us over the line That style of play was based on Marti's instructions imo not the players.

We now have a squad with more depth and can open up a bit more if JS can switch the player mindset.

Ive been listening to talksport today and West Ham fans have been complaining about their lack of risk taking and obsession with possession. Same with Celtic callers. Danny Murphy saying that under Whoy they were allowed to make on field decissions if plan A wasn't working. The experienced players would take over tactical instructions given at the start by the manager. As Iron Mike said, theres always a plan until you get smacked in the mouth.
