The women's season is over and I dont think there's anything more to it than the reason in the club's statement.Originally posted by Darkranger View Post
Judging our results against the expectations at the start of the season, it's not clear if this is a promotion, demotion or sideways move for the head coach?
As a team we were expected to be in the promotion mix. As this looks unlikely it hard to ascertain if he's been punished for missing out or recognised for his input throughout the season.
I was speaking with someone online about our womens team and its still being run on an amateur basis. Nourry gave it the big 'en at the start of the season, but apart from using our training facilities, there hasn't been much cash put into the team.
Im sure we'll make a better go of it next season.

But there isnt equal pay in the men's game! Also, commercially they're harding bringing in the crowds.
However, it was disgusting that when Fern did her ACL they had to launch a crowd funding page to cover her expenses during rehab. It does suggest that they're not on pro contracts or even covered by player insurance!!! It was good to see Riley and Bathia stick £1k each into the pot. Kone put in £600 and Kolli £250. Walsh also contributed but I can't remember how much.Last edited by SheepRanger; 08-03-2026, 12:01 AM.

I mentioned a couple of years ago how having a women's team is a ticking time-bomb in terms of an equal pay claim. Well, the fuse is soon going to get shorter...
Angela Rayner's Employment Rights Bill is going through parliament currently. Most HR experts predict that football clubs will be caught up in it and will have 3 options: cut loose their women's team or equalise pay by raising women's pay or lowering men's pay.
Obviously there is already legislation covering pay equality but the new Act somehow gets rid of the angles/parts clubs can currently use to justify why their male captain earns 10x what their female captain earns.
I have no axe to grind here - I'm merely pointing out that having a women's team at some will at some point give rise to a claim of pay inequality.

Two new strikers signed!
Very disappointing season so far after all that summer "investment" in players.
