We do disagree on this! Ainsworth great guy and did sterling job at Wycombe. However GA's record both in the season he joined and the start of the second season was dire. We just about got away with it. Marti changed a team that were at that time the worst team in the league and form wise transformed them into play off contenders. Not so great second season but reasonably comfortably stayed up in the end. Would have been interested to see what would have happened next season with him in charge.

Although we got close the 6th spot (4-6 points) we ended the season drifting very close to the relegation positions. The win away to Sunderland in the last game, without Marti and playing a team who were preparing for the play offs, pushed us up to what appears to be a respectable position.

There were quite a few on this MB with squeaky bums over relegation concerns last season and many saying the style of football was negative and boring.

Too many rose tinted glasses about Marti.

All the best Marti and thanks for leaving us in a much better state than you inherited, shame it had to end like this. Still I'm sure you'll succeed in wherever your next job takes you. Oh and ps please don't sleep with sheep's misses again that was not on!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Haven't read anything about Xavi Calm - dunno if new guy comes with his own retinue of coaches or he just heads up the existing set-up here?

They'll be gone soon when Alou Diarra joins as assistant coach (if rumours are true).

We've also just made a really bold appointment with regards to a defensive coach

I liked Marti, and thought he did a generally decent job, but I do feel a bit let down by his actions. The club showed a lot of faith, backed him with an extended contract at a time when we were bottom of the table 5 points adrift of safety without a home win in 9 games. That was a remarkable show of faith from the club.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, it is kinda sad that within the space of a few months of signing a new contract he was exploring opportunities elsewhere with other clubs. I'm not really judging him, it can sometimes be a short career and you have to take opportunities when presented, but I simply can't feel as positive about his tenure in this context as some on here seem to.

Best wishes though Marti, we played some very good football at times in challenging circumstances and I genuinely wish you well in your next role.

By my reckoning, all the championship clubs which had vacant manager roles have now recruited replacements. Yet Marti didn't get any of them and is out of work, which is very strange for a manager who is apparently very talented.

With his compensation from us possibly linked to when he's back in work, I hope he finds another job very soon. But I have a feeling it wont be in England.

As much as I appreciate he kept us up somehow in his 1st season last season we were nowhere near fit enough imo from the off yes we had glimpses of being a decent side we equally looked like a sh it show far too often and the winless runs not helped his cause in finding another job along with the alleged I fancy the WBA job

Helped steady a wobbly ship but left under a cloud

I’m looking forward to this season recruitment has been based around English leagues and JD committed to us another boost that was unexpected
