  • Retained list

Apparently all clubs have to issue their list of retained players by TODAY.

My guess is it will say that Fox, Paal and Colback have been released although not sure whether Colback has an option to extend by a year dependant on appearances.

I would also imagine that we are continuing negotiations with Dunne.

    Who have I missed?

Option to keep Frey another year announced overnight.

That's good - notwithstanding his irritating bitty injury record he has made a solid contribution and has earned another year I reckon.

Agreed. When fit he's still our best attacking option.

Retain Marti. Does anyone on here believe Tom Cleverly will last beyond Christmas?!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Another season of "Marti" football is not enticing. Much sooner go with some of the other names that have been mentioned.

Dave Tom Cleverly though, I mean come on you must also think that's a joke candidate!

We've done ex-prem managers (Hughes), up and coming (Floyd-Hass), foreign (Marti) and old timers (Warnock & Rednapp).

Im happy with any manager who has championship experience even if they've deemed to have failed elsewhere. You only get more experience from your failures, not successes.

I'll back whoever gets the job, as long as he has experience of championship football and knows the other teams/players.

Have you heard we looking at Tom Cleverley as our new no1 ? he's fav on some bookies sites but others are on other sites from what ive seen.

Id bust a gut for Plymouth guy and credit to u21 coaches other night that squad had the nastiness and willingness to mix it with the Bees something a lot of the 1st team lack

Paal gone, think we can expect other announcements to start coming through. Mixed feelings on this one. Had some good moments but not always the most solid defensively. Suspect he will go to another Championship club or similar level abroad.

With any luck we can get in a good replacement.

Reckon it'll be a toss up between this thread being mainly a "retained" or a "released" list. I notice other clubs are already announcing new acquisitions of free agents (obviously these can be made before transfer window opens), maybe we will get news of a decent signing soon.....

List just been released saying we remain in discussions with Dunne, Fox, Anderson and Colback.

Colback finished the season quite strongly so for right money maybe, possibly significantly appearance based deal. Anderson got more game time towards the end of the season but poor season overall so surprised. Fox bitty season but can provide cover and competition to be fair. Dunne a no brainer if by some miracle we can get him to stay.

I can't see that Colback and Anderson would be anything other than subs/cover. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a case of whether or not they accept that role and are happy to accept wages that reflect that status. As it stands, keeping Fox looks vital given our lack of defenders. With Cook exercising his right to stay on I just can't see that we can afford to pay Jimmy the wages he could command elsewhere. I dunno how creative contracts can be but maybe a 3yr deal with moderate wages in year 1 and then massive wages thereafter (ie when Cook's wages are off the books)?

Yeah......seems a strange one unless we're trying to get his wages down to a very low level. He got ripped a new one at full back and was nothing more than back up at CB. If we go into the season with Fox as a starter we're in trouble.
