If as I hope we can afford a new contract for Steve to mentor the young centre backs, I would like it to be player/coach. His influence at the club is immense. I could see him as a possible future manager= Thoughts?

I was hoping his rumoured £30k pw salary would go to Dunne. With his foot injury now seemingly a reoccurring thing I hope Cook's wages have been slashed to £10-12k a week, because we won't get a full season out of him!!Comment

Whilst wages maybe a factor I I reckon jimmy and his agent probably think he get a bigger club with commensurate wages. He has probably already been tapped.Comment

He's been solid but I disagree on him being immense. I never saw him as being a vocal leader of the team either - he has been an experienced dependable pro for us but we can do better next season I think. Plus, notwithstanding injuries we must use Morrison and JCS as our prime 1st choice CBs next season. Ultimatey, I'm not sure we have the budget to pay for anyone to just "be around" as a mentor and occasional starter.Comment

Fitness is the issue with JCS. Having Cook as well as Morrison plus another one or two new CBs (assuming no extension for Fox) and we are covered. Has been said we are signing some young Scottish CB in summer. Probably for development squad but think 19 so really at that age if talent is there could potentially be a squad player and further back up.Comment
