Players don't play through any pain barrier that might end up shortening their careers whilst earning circa £500k per year plus. They want to max their earning potential. Miraculous recoveries can happen six months before their contracts expire too. I suspect it's a job for most and the love of the game went many years before. They know they're in a meat market. The days of pain killers and crippled 40yr old ex players have gone.

Willock last season is a good example of that. Suddenly in the final games of the season he was back looking pretty fit from what I can remember.Originally posted by SheepRanger View PostPlayers don't play through any pain barrier that might end up shortening their careers whilst earning circa £500k per year plus. Yeah, but likewise going through the motions to avoid further injury. You can't blame them really when they have their futures on the line. Very few play for the club these days, but you get the pretend badge kissers. No footballer needs to carry lifelong damage, but many tweaks you can run off.Originally posted by WestcountryRanger View Post
