  • How can a ref give a pen

.... for handball, but not a red card??

  • #2
Because of this red card rule:
    • denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity with a foul (unless the referee awards a penalty and it was an attempt to play the ball)
The pen is deemed sufficient punishment.

All 3 goals would of been ruled out at Kenilworth rd if we had VAR , apart from goal line technology I'd love us to go back to how it was

Var is crap and has made the situation worse.
I agree with buffalo, the rules are still open to interpretation, which generally means the big clubs get the decision.
It was in the arsenal v Leicester game.
The var panel watched it for 5 mins then invited the ref to look.
He then deemed a pen should be given for handball ( which it was) and then yellow carded the offender because a player was on the line.
          Unbelievable decision.
