Leisner has been replaced by Masterson
Other two out who hardly played and Clarke has come in.

Perhaps there were no other loans strikers available within our budget? Perhaps we'd planned on money coming in during Jan with a sale of either Eze, Manning, Bos etc. When that money didnt arrive it's time to tighten the belt to meet FFP. Whatever will be will be in the remainder of the the season. It's just a shame we've thrown away so many points with silly defending/goalkeeping. Without those clear errors we'd be easily 6 points better off and looking pretty safe even with a weak forward line.

I am okay with the squad we have given no one in their right mind could believe — 30 games in — that we have a playoff ready team.

The bigger question now is whether or not Eze can get motivated to give his all til the summer. It’s obvious he has been lacking punch for the past few weeks, and if he doesn’t turn that around any dreams of netting 10-20 million via sale is a pipe dream — 10-20 million we could use to buy three quality players.

I think the gamble of letting go of one of our better defenders when we have a leaky defence and not replacing our top goal scorer will be viewed in hindsight at the end of the season by everyone

But it’s a gamble worth taking imo. I think it puts us in a decent FFP position in the summer if we stay up

Calculated risk. Main issue on those that have left is Wells. It is likely though we were not going to go up and reasonable chance we will not be involved in relegation zone. Perhaps makes better sense to save what, by our standards, would have been considerable wage by not getting a loan signing of equivalent standing.

We kept gifted youngsters, Masterson has looked good so far.

Not saying it isn't frustrating but perhaps a sensible approach in our circumstances. Some good work done in summer recruitment. A decent summer window could set us up better for next season.
