  • The Next Step

After years of boringly mediocre play, this season has been a breath of fresh air. We can all see we've taken the first necessary step to building a sustainable winner. Here's the next step:

    (1) Recruit a veteran goalie -- can steady the defense, while teaching the youngsters behind him -- a win win.
    (2) Get Kakay and Niko back from loan, shed Hall, Leistner, sign two fresh, speedy CBs -- the slow CB pace is our greatest team weakness today
    (3) Sell Eze -- I love this dude, but we can only fund all other upgrades by selling him for 15-20million
    (4) Sign Wells -- he's a fast, determined striker with experience who, like (1) above, can also teach those around him
    (5) Recruit and sign a veteran midfielder -- we have too often lost control of games in the middle of the field

Do this, and MW's "play it from the back" formation could work. Do this, and the team retains a nice balance of young and old. Do this, and the fans will believe there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.

    Cheers all.

Not sure about Kaky and Niko. If they were at the required level they would have had more game time before now. Hopefully I'm wrong but they may be just another couple who have come through but not Championship level.

Agree with most of the rest. for (5) we have Cameron. Get a Premier League bench warming keeper either permanently or on loan, a speedy CB and we would be more solid and that would give rest of the team more confidence.

Point 1 which keeper do you have in mind.

When you think about it who could this keeper be,it's not easy to come up with a name.

Basically, IMO, we have lacked a real central midfield partnership since Derry / Faurlin.
